Quotes you love/live by

Life is what happens while you're trying to remember that John Lennon quote about plans.

You live and learn or you don't live long.

Sin lies in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other "sins" are invented nonsense.

Ignorance is curable. Stupid is forever.

All from Robert A. Heinlein

I saw this provocative quote tonight, fits us
newsroom types well: "Stay Pished off for greatness."

Then I looked it up. It's from renowned murder denier
Ray Lewis, who never did find his white suit.

Hard pash on the quote, then.

I had them engraved on a placard for my desk when I worked in a newsroom. Now they're mounted on the wall of my home office:

"You get to consciously decide what has meaning and what doesn't. You get to decide what to worship."

"The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day. That is real freedom."

Two I picked up from former bosses that I have never forgotten as I have moved along in my working life:

*A lack of organization on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part

*There's a reason they put erasers on pencils: people make mistakes

Another used to quote a great line he said he got from a MASH episode:

*Everybody wants to be the clown but somebody has to run the circus
