"College Football Is On EBay" is NIL a bad thing?

If you're peachy with this version of college sports, then you're going to be happy for quite a while. It's not as if they're going to pull the plug now.

Not quite sure how you don't see something has been lost in the offing, but ...

Narduzzi is having a bad Christmas.
QB Slovis says he's transferring from Pitt to BYU

Pay up, Pitt, or get out of the game.
Or become the Pittsburgh Pirates of college football.

Why are Pittsburgh area teams so afraid of paying players?
Sounds to me as if Pitt would have paid him to leave, and doesn't seem especially broken up about it. Enjoy Provo, it's prettier than Pittsburgh. Now get a haircut and shave that 'stache.

Something has been lost for the fans. And it is a LOT better for the actual players. So I am good with it.

It always felt icky to me, seeing a packed dome for the Final Four.. Knowing that CBS paid hundreds of millions for the rights; that Jim Nantz gets paid millions to broadcast; that the Izzos and Coach Ks were paid 10s of millions; that I had to watch smarmy Coach K American Express commercials... and the players playing in the actual game got bupkis. It never made sense to me, and reduced my enjoyment of college sports, knowing these players were used and thrown out, and everyone around them were making millions.

So yes, this whole movement makes me feel way better than I used to.

This year's Final Four games got better TV ratings than any NBA game this year, including the NBA Finals.

Pat Narduzzi has done a lot of complaining about the WR transferring to USC.
Funny, I wonder if he was ever under contract coaching one school when he was contacted by another school for a better job.

The hypocrisy of these coaches is incredible.

Narduzz is a jackass. He was also right to complain about USC getting away with tampering to get Jordan Addison. Both things can be true.

Market size could end up being a big part of the equation in college football.

That said, Slovis leaving doesn't seem to be about money. Slovis wasn't very good for Pitt, and they already brought in Phil Jurkovec to be the starter for 2023. Jurkovec was an elite prospect at Pine-Richland High School, which is in the Pittsburgh suburbs. He crapped out at Notre Dame and went backward for two seasons after a solid sophomore year at Boston College, but maybe the Panthers can get something out of him.

Narduzzi recently made a comment about Jurkovec possibly giving them the leadership they lacked this past season, though he didn't mention Slovis by name. This was after Slovis put himself it he portal, but before the destination came out. I brought this up as an example of Narduzzi being a jackass on the college football thread.

Prep writer always gets challenged by the local public school to investigate the large private school that recruits players. Prep writer yawns and says, the coach at large private school does not recruit. The parents of the current players recruit. And that is not against the rules.
So Lincoln Riley didn't recruit Jordan Addison, but some of the current Trojans did.
