This is my big gripe about preseason rankings. Teams have done nothing to earn them, but they cause resistance to ranking by accomplishments and record.

I ashume the Notre Dame voters didn't really care because they play the team right in front of them. If they win they won't move them up more than a point or two, otherwise they dropped them to borderline top 25 because of the loss.

A&M at #24 is the biggest fraud. Losing at home to a Notre Dame team that lost to a middle-of-the-MAC team at home, and then barely beating BGSU.

Jim McMahon and Steve Sarkisian are both Catholic, so there's a history of BYU having non-Mormon quarterbacks.
