Cutting cord, Hulu + Live TV

Looks like with Direct TV still at an impasse, Hulu + looks like a good alternative, lower cost, ESPN, my regional sports channel, an unlimited cloud DVR.

With Direct, I get DVR, regional sports (Warriors/Giants), all the sports channels (Golf, NFL, NBA, Tennis) but four over 2X Hulu +.

Anyone else go this route? Any misgivings?

I have Hulu Live. We do not get our regional sports network. Thanks, Bally.
It has gone up $10 a year, every year. When I just dropped cable for Hulu, it was $50 a month. I now pay $90.
If it wasn't for college football, I'd honestly drop the live part.

It seems good, we were already paying $24.99 per mo. for Disney/Hulu/Espn+ plus $225 for Direct (including $15 for RSN) and now its just $77/mo for ESPN plus RSN and channels, etc. I've just got to cancel Direct now and return all the equipment.

I do YouTube TV, which essentially works the same way. I'm not a baseball or NBA guy and I live just far enough outside the Preds blackout zone that I can fill in that hole with ESPN Plus.

The nice thing about YTTV is I can pause my subscription from April-August during the college sports dead zone. That makes the yearly cost average out to something reasonable.

Cut the cord in 2018 and have had Hulu Live ever since. I've got no complaints, though as noted the price has steadily increased. Though, with it and all the streamers we have, it's still cheaper than we were paying for cable six years ago.

I have YouTube TV with HBO Max, which in addition to giving me unlimited DVR and all the HBO channels in the grid rolls HBO and Max content into the Movies & TV section of the main YouTube apps.

We use Hulu Live, have for years now. It gets me the sports I want across a number of networks. It also means that you don't have the usual cord cutter's problem with getting your local network stations, having to use an antenna. The interface is a little clunky but we've been satisfied with the service overall. The Hulu, Disney, Max bundles are pretty good as well. Ninety bucks for the three, I think.

One thing if you aren't used to a streaming service - expect to be a play behind real time. If you are constantly refreshing social media or have a super active text chain, you can catch quite a few spoilers.

Cut DirecTV after 22 years two years ago for YouTube. Don't get Altitude for Avalanche/Nuggets but don't really care. I get what I want with it at about one-third the cost.

We do Youtube TV and buy the MLB package with the savings.

(Despite the fact we live in Indiana, we live so close to the state line the app thinks we're in Ohio and the Cubs aren't blacked out. Why the Cubs are blacked out in Eastern Indiana is still a mystery to me.)

We planned on switching from DirecTV Stream to YouTube when we made our cross-country move recently, figuring we'd need Sunday Ticket and no more need for RSN/Ballys.

Turns out, our DirecTV Stream is still recognizing our old billing zip code, so we still receive local channels, including Ballys, from our old home 1000 miles away. We have an antenna if we were to ever need local channels here in a weather emergency.

Like Friends with the free porn … we're not touching a damn thing with our streaming service.

Good luck with that. Might as well have said, "We've just got to build these pyramids."

I was pretty much at the shouting and profanity stage when I was finally able to cancel in 2021.

I pay $204/month for a mid-tier Xfinity package, including HBO Max (but no regional sports) and 800 mbps internet. I could save a few bucks by dropping to 500 mbps. Maybe I'll do that the next time the price jumps.
