2024-25 College Basketball Thread

Oklahoma State? Apparently the NIT has repealed the rule that you had to have a winning record to play.

That's due to the Crown Tournament starting this year -- notice the teams that would be there normally aren't because 16 go the Crown bracket

Brief notes:
* Liberty has the longest trip at 2,279 miles. Duke's 18-mile distance from campus to Arena Name Du Jour is the shortest trip.

It was the ESA. It still is the ESA. Unless the corporations want to pay me obscenely well, it will stay the ESA.

It's too bad San Diego sucked this year. Having San Diego, San Diego State, and UC San Diego all in the same tournament would have made some heads explode when casual fans filled out their brackets.

... and people would still not know where in the world is Carmen Sandiego ...

Other NET musings ...
Highest NET ranking to miss out: Ohio State (41). Buckeyes were 17-15 though. Next highest was Boise State at 44.
Lowest NET ranking to get an at-large: San Diego State (52).

And congratulations to Mississippi Valley State, which managed to stay at 364 (DFL) for the entire forking season.

This concludes the list of NCAA Tournament teams North Carolina has beaten.

And as much as I want to believe in VCU's chances this week, I just don't know how good the Rams really are. Here's the list of NCAA Tournament teams VCU beat this year:

Colorado State

I know I shouldn't expect different but I don't understand how Seth Davis looks his colleagues in the eye when had a chance to really go in on why Quad 1 wins suddenly didn't matter and instead he used his question up on what was clearly a planned interaction about how Bubba Cunningham had no direct influence on UNC getting in so they could put on a whole pageant about how pure and pristine everybody was. That's the bait they threw out there to distract everyone.
