2014 NFL draft thread (no longer too early)

It sounds like McNair is open to trade offers for the No. 1 pick.

This is smart. See what the market is and do what the Rams did and make that trade way before the draft. If they can get anything resembling what the Rams got for the RG3 pick two years ago, they take that and possibly move down a couple spots and take one of the other guys. I just wonder how much they can get for the pick. Is Bridgewater that much better than the rest of the group? I have no idea.

Browns are at No. 4 and also have the Colts first-round pick (and a slew of other picks in this year's draft, since they kept trading out of last year's....). Seems like a logical trade partner, if it were to happen.

That would make sense. I just can't help but wonder if McNair has his eyes set on Manziel. They were saying on the NFL Network that all of the QBs O'Brien has worked with with the Pats and PSU are generally taller, pocket-passer types, but that might just be a coincidence.

The Texans took a lot of shirt for passing on Houston native Vince Young (and Reggie Bush) to take Mario Williams at No. 1 overall in 2006, but in retrospect that seemed like the right call even if Williams didn't stay.

Re: (Way too early) 2014 NFL draft thread

Houston's biggest mistake that year was not trading the pick. The Saints were offered a truckload to move up to take Bush and I know one of the deals fell apart only because Bush refused to go to that team.

Even the Bengals can get a lineman correct sometimes.

Willie Anderson, Andrew Whitworth, Eric Steinbach, Anthony Collins, Levi Jones, Andre Smith ...

Anderson is the only one on that list who should even be in the same paragraph with the guy on the left.

In the 33 years since they drafted Munoz, Cincy has drafted only two other OL to make a Pro Bowl.

BTW, the guy on the right in that photo is Munoz's USC teammate Brad Budde, who won the Lombardi Award in 1979 and is in the College Football Hall of Fame. He was a good-but-not-great guard with the Chiefs in the 1980s.

The USC offensive line two-deep in 1978 included Munoz, Budde, Keith Van Horne, Chris Foote, Pat Howell and Roy Foster. Not bad ...

If Manziel's the guy you want, do you need the No. 1 overall pick to get him?

I like what I heard from one football guy some years back "Best strategy is to pick as low as possible and still get the player(s) you want".

What a genius that guy was. I wonder why nobody else thought of that.

Another insightful theory is that in the stock market, the key is to buy low and sell high.

Worked for me.

The Texans will NOT draft Manziel.

Will. Not. Happen.

Would agree now that O'Brien is there. His reference point is a more
traditional style NFL QB like Brady. Borrtles could be their guy but not
at #1

Re: (Way too early) 2014 NFL draft thread

Manziel to Cowboys as Cowboys trade Romo this years 1st round and next years #1 choice to Rams.
