2024-25 College Basketball Thread

The UConn statement accuses the reporter of being in a place he was not entitled to occupy. I'd like to see them prove that. I'd also like to see somebody ask the university about that claim. And then ask the NCAA to weigh in on the topic.
The technology changes over the years, but one thing that doesn't is a public official belatedly complaining about being misquoted.

It's usually not when the story (or video in this case) first is published. It's only after the quote is out there for a day or so and enough people get pissed off about it.

Then all of a sudden it's "I was misquoted" or "it's the media's fault."

Is Hurley the absolute worst human being in all of sports today?

I realize he wasn't the one who threw down the "ruin your life" threat, but I can't imagine he disapproved of it.

Danny Hurley is one chair throw away from being Bobby Knight II.

I would add that if your coach leaves, you get another free transfer.
All these are reasonable ideas, and could be agreed to in collective bargaining. But until there's a union to bargain with, that can't be done. In the meantime, all it takes is one litigant-scholar-athlete to file suit and the whole thing comes tumbling down.

Not sure how the SEC/B1G matchups will go in the rest of the men's tournament, but in the NCAA women's tourney it's no contest.

Oklahoma is absolutely destroying the Iowa women like it was playing a MAC school, and once this beat down ends in Norman, the Big Ten women's teams will be 1-7 in Second Round games. Only UCLA has won so far. Alabama-Maryland playing now and USC plays Mississippi State tonight.

Curious how much pull an SID in Storrs has in Charlotte NC. That was hardly a "private comment." Imagine how much stuff the UConn regular media swallows of Hurley's bile.

Or they are content enough to swallow the Kool-Aid, and/or intimidated enough to never cross whatever lines Hurley and the SID draw in the sand?

That is such a silly defense, although we all know it's right out of the standard flak playbook. He said it. He should own it and move on.

Bama women with about as gross a defensive collapse as you'll see. 28 points allowed in the final quarter as Maryland rallies to force OT.

We're in double-OT now as the Alabama star was fouled on a last-second three point shot and made all three free throws.

This might be the best tournament game yet; men or women.
