2024-25 NHL regular season thread

The Red Wings' burst under Todd McLellan has faded and they are going to miss the playoffs again. Their remaining schedule is too tough. But I consider the season a success. This always was going to be a transition year. With Simon Edvinsson, Marco Kasper, Albert Johansson and Elmer Soderblom taking prominent roles the transition has begun. What I fault Yzerman for is Vladimir Tarasenko, Eric Gustafsson and other bad free agent signings. Wings haven't had a director of pro scouting since Mark Howe retired and it shows

Great to have you back, Jake.
Going to their game at STL April 1 sporting an Ozzie sweater.
Pistons are relevant again!

Huge game for the Jackets vs. the Islanders Monday.
Prior to last night's loss, CBJ was on a 0 of 19 streak on the PP.
Jackets are out-shooting people, but can't score. Has to be frustrating. Is here.

Huge game both ways. Islanders gave up a late third-period lead today almost as quickly as they took it and lost in OT. Could have been a point out of the wild card spot but the Canadiens came back from a three-goal third-period deficit and lost in the shootout to the Avalanche. Whomever loses is probably done (of course, the Islanders have been declared done about 70 times this season).

The Capitals swept the season set from the Panthers, outscoring Florida 16-7 while winning each game by three goals.

Per Brian Hedger, Columbus has activated its top-line center Sean Monahan and defenseman Erik Gudbranson beginning with tonight's game at the Islanders.
Monahan has been out since early January with a wrist injury. Gudbranson suffered an early-season shoulder injury that required surgery.

Just getting rid of Derek Lalonde would have made the Wings season a success.

Yzerman was not able to take much, if any, of his team from Tampa Bay and it shows. The Lightning have a heck of a group of scouts.

Don't know if Jody Shelley is on another assignment or not, but JD is filling in.
He's lost nothing off his fastball as a TV analyst.

Islanders got HOSED tonight. Should have won on a tip-in by Kyle Palmieri with under 10 seconds left, but he got whistled for goalie interference even though Elvis shoved him. They REALLY unloaded afterward.
