Tom Chambers is overdue. And guessing Vince Carter will earn selection in his first year.

But some of these guys…Mike Gminski? Terry Cummings? Reggie Theus? Fine players for a few years, but come on. How is Gminski a first-time nominee only now? Weird.

Vince Carter, Simone Augustus and I don't much care after that, although I'm not qualified to evaluate the international choices.

because they limit the number of nominees and they finally got to where he was near the top of the list. You don't get this far just because you're first eligible after retiring like baseball, there's a screening committee

It might be easier to tell us who WASN'T nominated.

I'd certainly think Beilein merits heavy consideration for taking four different D1 programs, only one of which could be considered a true blue-blood, to the NCAA tournament.

LOL Bill Laimbeer.

(I mean LOL on him going in as a player. As a coach, he may actually deserve it.)

Greg Kelser is on the list. As a Sparty fanboy when I was a little kid, I'd love to see it. But I'm not sure what qualified for the ballot.

I don't know if Chauncy Billups is in or not - but I guaran-darn-tee you the Blazers won't can him until the end of the season to take advantage of the added interest. Everyone knows this isn't a playoff team - but the hope was that the team would at least establish a post-Dame "identity" to move forward. But injuries and growing pains have made that impossible thus far.

But was there a 70-minute back and forth debate on the merits of Edmonton Commercial Grads?
