2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Clash

I wonder if PJ Carlesimo has a vote and if so, would he vote for John Clougherty. He never ripped him in public but that was a real ticky-tack foul that gave Glen Rice the foul shots to win the NCAA title.

Certainly for much of his career Billups seemed like the kind of player who would make a good coach -- Doc Rivers I suppose would be a good comparison -- but so did Isiah and Dumars.

Most really good players are terrible coaches. An exception thus far is Shaheen Holloway at Saint Peter's/Seton Hall.

Well, Bird was a pretty good coach in his relatively brief stint.

Lenny Wilkens was pretty comparable to Billups and Dumars as a player -- HOF level.
But those guys are definitely in the minority.

Next year is Dawn Staley's 25th season as a head coach.

If she doesn't join John Wooden, Lenny Wilkens, Bill Sharman, Tom Heinsohn and Bill Russell on the list of people who have been inducted both as a player and a coach, it'll be a crime.

I expect some bullship argument about her not having been a "full-time" coach during those first five years when she was still playing in the WNBA in the summer.

Three natties as a coach plus an Olympic gold medal? Oh I promise there's room for her to share a HOF with Bo Ryan, no questions asked.
