2024 college football offseason thread

I want to see Saban go all Screamin' A and take a blowtorch to Alabama, the SEC and college football in general. And then for him to beat McAfee about the head and shoulders with a souvenir baseball bat.

"Well, that's all well and good, but I was THERE! I wasn't here on a TV set with make-up on, laughing and scratching, putting Goddam things on my head! I was there, I was up to my knees, going up against the players, their parents (and agents, cough, cough) the NIL, Lane, Kirby and whomever Tennessee's coach was on a given year, boosters, sponsors, ADs, the F-ING NCAA and THE Committee - while punks like you were out galavanting about the country, drinking it up with college students, talking about the GREAT game of college football. Its HELL! FREAKING HELL!!!! AHHHH, AHHH.

Signing day just went by, and UAB has signed one of the best clashes (on paper) it ever has. The crying need on the OL and DL that killed us last season was addressed. They signed a number of recruits that would normally have gone to a mid-level P5, which made me optimistic. It was at that point that I realized that the roster spots those guys would have normally filled at those P5's went to portal guys, many of whom were the better players on teams at this level.

Sigh.

Corso is the new deck Clark. They'll keep trotting out his fossilized remains as long as he's above ground.

He's Puxatawny Phil at this point. I kind of wish they gave him the sendoff he is deseriving of - but I worry he's going to say something inadvertently, cause a mess and be forced out unceremoniously.

A simple segment like "Why this play worked" would be interesting with Saban.

I have to wonder how a guy as tightly wired, focused, and on time as Saban is will deal with all the delays, sitting around waiting, and various bullship.
