College football week 14 thread: The Greatest Story Ever Toad

USC has a win and-in-situation. Hard to ask for more. And if they don't win, then Ohio State takes their place.

Believe it or not, this is where I am as well.

I hope nobody construed my inclusion of Tennessee in the discussion as any kind of playoff lobbying, because it wasn't. Just lumping them among the handful of teams that will always have a tougher row to hope to ever win another conference title.

And Chris Long was ready to go ballistic --- he was warning us of the incoming missile --- had an 11-1 UT taken a playoff spot from a 12-1 USC. I was looking forward to that. Sigh. :(

That's interesting, but it's kind of an accident of geography. FCS programs are kinda scarce out that way, aren't they?
Correct. Only ones in California (off the top of my head) are San Diego, Cal Poly, UC Davis and Sacramento State. However, UCLA played FCS Alabama State this year so there's some validity to giving the Trojans the kudos.

Yep. Of the 124 FCS programs, only 14 are in Mountain, Pacific or Hawaii time zones (11.3%). FBS: 27 of 131 (20.6%).

USC has never played an FCS school, and plays nine P5 conference games and Notre Dame every single year. It doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone in scheduling, ever.

Ever forking ever.

Shove that Rocky Top bullshirt back into the asshole from whence it came.
