Good Deeds....

But I can say now that I saw them on the LZ IV tour, and it's the truth, so there's that. At least these kids get great sound and can watch her on a humongous screen, and get to remember that - and have the "I was there" cred and a ticket stub.

Their only proof is gonna be a screenshot of the ticket's bar code just before they entered. Another reason we had it better.

That reminded me of this story about Ted Nugent playing in Kansas City years ago, and the city got noise complaints from 18 miles away.

Turn it Up to 11!: The Loudest Live Events Ever Recorded.

Are we sure they just weren't complaining about a serial racist/serial draft dodging/serial statutory rapist being in the state?

If I had the means, I'd absolutely buy a pair to the freshly-announced New Orleans shows and give my daughter the thrill of a lifetime. But I have grave doubts about it being some musically transcendent evening, regardless of artist.

That's always a crapshoot. OTOH, her definition and yours may not agree. I have yet to hear a seriously bad review from this tour.

My attitude toward major band tours when I was young was to make as many shows as possible, if I could afford and get my hands on the tickets. There's a whole list of shows that I'm envied for making now, say Genesis with Peter Gabriel, that were just another touring show at the time. Sometimes you are present on a night that a band catches lightning in a bottle.

Even those are a crapshoot. Led Zep in Atlanta stadium was not a good show, the sound system was not up to the venue. I saw the Allman Brothers/Lynyrd Skynyrd/Marshall Tucker there and it was a great show with excellent sound. Ditto Leon Russell. The Stones and ZZ Topp in the Astrodome. The Stones/Doobies/Van Halen in the Superdome. Pink Floyd was great in Atlanta Stadium.

On the whole, of course arenas are better than stadiums, small halls are better than arenas, and tiny venues may be best of all... but the smaller they are, the harder is is to be present.

I saw the Stones in the Fox Theater in Atlanta on the Some Girls tour, and that seats 3,700 people - but if I had not had a girlfriend I could call when I heard about tickets, someone willing to drop everything and go get in line RIGHT THIS DAMN MINUTE, I (we) never would have been there. Someone offered her $200 (in 1978 dollars) for her place in line and she shook them off, bless her.

Quick update on Ms. Swift, he generosity is a total of $55,000,000 to the tour staff for this tour. Wow. Makes Oprah look like a miser….

My gosh, can you imagine actually having/making that much money to use for that purpose -- or, really, for any purpose?

Kudos to her.

You married her, right?!
