Music Thread (post a song)

Well, for me this is the definitive Deep River Blues.

He gives a lesson on how to pick it, then plays at about 1:56.

I always liked these.

Several years ago we attended a show by Roy Book Binder, kind of a fringe player on the early-60s folk scene. Of course he was as full of stories as songs. He worked for a while as the driver and gofer for the Rev. Gary Davis, a renowned ragtime picker who was "rediscovered" in the '60s along with musicians like Mississippi John Hurt. Some of his storytelling is available on YouTube.

Well, I saw you last night
Down on the avenue
Your face was in the shadows
But I knew that it was you
You were standing in the doorway
Out of the rain
You didn't answer
When I called out your name
You just turned and then you looked away
Like just another stranger waiting to get blown away

Point blank
Right between the eyes
Point blank
Right between the pretty lies you fell
Point blank
Shot straight through the heart
Yeah, point blank
