NFL conference championship Sunday

It was unfortunate the both games played out the way they did - Niners losing their qbs, a penalty making an iffy fg attempt a gimme. Would have like to see it go into OT, but the way the refs were throwing flags, not surprising that a flag proved fatal to one of the teams. You knew that was going to be a flag - its just too bad.

That wasn't a frivolous flag. It was clearly the right call.

Yes - but it was a tough way to lose. That's all. It wasn't much of a "hit" that's all I'm saying. I'll also note that Mahomes ankle seemed to get better or worse depending on whether he completed a pash or not.

It was the right call. . . but you just hate to see a game decided on it. It's not like mugging a receiver in the end zone, literally preventing a winning pash. This penalty (WHILE BEING THE RIGHT CALL!!) provided no competitive advantage.

On that note . . . do refs blow the whistle when a player steps out of bounds? If they don't, an auditory signal may help a defender avoid at least a few of these.

Not only was Mahomes out of bounds, he was darn near out of the white border zone around the field. He was closer to the Bengals bench than the sideline. This was a Principal Skinnerish officiated game, as they often are when refs think they're losing control, which the third-fourth-third-fourth down sequence showed they had, but the final call would've been made in any game, no matter the clock-distance-scoreboard situation. It should also be noted that if the flag wasn't thrown, that too would be "refs deciding the game."

I thought for sure Ossai had blown out his knee falling at the end of the shove. I'm glad for him that he didn't because that would have been the all-timest adding injury to insult.

Edit: I see now that he's due for an MRI so maybe so. darn.

We have a gambling thread. Why its on Anything Goes and not the Sports forum, I've never figured out. But not sure why we see interjections of their in-game wagers at +550 on this thread.

I have a bookie. One of my friends started with said bookie this weekend. We were watching the Chiefs game with a cross-section of people last night, and friend could not stop telling everyone he needed a rushing td from all four teams yesterday to complete his prop bet, and was rooting for a Chiefs rushing td to the annoyance of pretty much everyone but me.

Very few people care about your fantasy team or your in-game betting.

During a game, there are about 15-20 of us on here.

I get it. I'll stay in the cesspool on the Gambling Thread. When it's in-game and a big game like this, I imagine most of us only stay on this thread for the afternoon and aren't jumping threads.

I don't mind the occasional interjection. When it becomes half the thread I find it a bit much.

What truly grinds my gears is hearing all about somebody's bets when I'm sitting beside them at a game. Something about it sends my levels of not giving a ship through the ceiling in that setting, probably because it is always the bro-iest of bros talking about it in a voice that carries down to the skyboxes, across to the hot dog stand and out to the parking lot.

That's fine. I came across as a little deckish, and I apologize. And I was reading late last night - I don't know when the messages were posted.
I offer a compromise: How about if the bet was made prior to the action being completed, you keep it here?
The gambling posts anyone makes about how smart they were in hindsight are kind of boorish and bad form. Bragging if you will.
