NFL Week 13 -- What About Love?

Jesus, the amount of complaints, doomsday predictions, caterwauling and gripes about the state of football these last few pages is unreal. If people did this on the soccer thread or baseball thread, there would calls for posters to be banned. And its been happening all year. When Burrow went down, there was a poster practically weeping for not only the Bengals, but the NFL!

Complaints about the state of the league go back at least 40 years, and maybe farther.

The product is fine. A Burrow gets hurt. Then a Browning steps in. And when a Browning doesn't step up (see Jets), people complain about the shirtty teams. But if the Jets and Carolina were decent, people would complain about the parity.

As a Dallas sports radio talk show host (not to mention Carly Simon) used to say all the time, these ARE the good old days.

'the product is fine because I yike to gamble on it and it's really alot of fun'

OK

That isn't necessarily the case, but even if it was, who gives an F? This isn't cancer surgery. Its an entertaining product overall.

My buddies have spent the last half hour texting about the Patriots dumpster fire. We all live in California. We don't have any bets on the Patriots.

I like the product. So shoot me.

it's like watching droids play.

It was adorable when Brady said on his little practice podcast for his $375-million Fox job that the league is watered down. I suppose he believes that because he is out of the league now.

Then don't watch.

There used to be a few memorable plays each season. That is, a play non-fans would talk about, usually from the post-season when viewing is highest. The Dwight Clark catch, the Tyree catch, Bo Jackson running over Brian Bosworth. The last one of those was the Beast Mode run and that was 13 years ago, and even that was in a lesser-seen West Coast game. Maybe Beckham's one-handed catch and that was eight years ago.

Like the NBA, the NFL has become a video game in real life, and about as compelling.
