NFL Week 6 -- What could possibly go wrong in 13 seconds?

The TNF schedule is weird, either the match-ups are really good (Mia-Cin, Ravens-Bucs in a couple of weeks) or abysmal (Jags-Jets in December)

I believe the NFL stipulates that every team must have one national TV appearance*, and TNF is often used as a dumping ground for bad and nondescript teams to get their one game, thus explaining the near-annual Titans-Jaguars fixture on the program in the 2000s.

*The NFL counts Thanksgiving for this which is why the Lions are rarely on TNF.

Every team has to play on a Thursday, so by default a couple of match-ups are going to suck. Of course when you make a schedule in May, you never know how it's going to look by the time the game rolls around -- I'm sure no one thought six months ago Colts-Broncos would be a snoozefest.

On the surface, there's only really a couple of duds in terms of the teams, not the quality of the play:
Bears-Commanders last night
Eagles-Texans
Falcons-Panthers
Jaguars-Jets

The other 11, when they were assigned, looked pretty good from one standpoint or another.

And there's a competitive disadvantage on Thursdays in that Dallas and Detroit always get the short week at home.

They've actually changed that in the past couple of years -- Dallas plays at Minnesota in the late window and Detroit is at the Giants in the early one this season

Wait, what?
Dallas and Detroit aren't at home for Thanksgiving?

That's not right.

Bills at Lions on Thanksgiving in the early slot.
Giants at Cowboys on Thanksgiving in the middle slot.
Patriots at Vikings in the evening slot.

The next week, Bills play at Patriots on Thursday.

You're thinking of the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Most times, the teams that play at home on Thursdays play on the road the Sunday before while the road team on Thursdays usually plays at home the Sunday before.

Not always, but a lot of times.

Sorry, I read your initial post wrong about the short week at home.

The board racist will be happy. The news just keeps getting worse in Pittsburgh. Minkah Fitzpatrick and both starting corners are out for Sunday's home game against the Bucs. Watt is still out, The Bills at least called off the dogs in third quarter last week, Brady won't want to do that. The line should be double digits because the Steelers will be lucky to stay within 20.

It started at 8, which seemed like a layup. I got it at 8.5 today at lunchtime, and now it's up to 9.5. With that kind of movement, I've got to think we get above 10 by Sunday.
