Tik Tok yeah DO stop .....

TikTok had plenty of users anyway. That's one of the sticking points of why this was a huge deal, was just how staggering of a number of regular U.S. users there wee. It may get a few more but that will be a drop in the bucket.

I still really don't see how making this a stunt benefits them.

Again, they always said they would go dark without a resolution. They obviously got one. How shady it is is another story.

It wasn't going to go dark. It was going to disappear from the App Store. For the immediate future there probably would have been very little change for existing users.

Trump announced he was giving them 90 days before they did the performative shut down. Now they are kissing his ass. He has 90 days to figure out how to cash in. If he can't, he'll probably just let it live so he can be a hero to teenagers… even though he's the one who wanted to shut it down in the first place.

It was no secret for days, if not weeks, that they were going to go dark if there was no resolution, likely with a note or landing page saying why. I had seen it all over the place. So it was exactly as expected. The only thing that was surprising is they did it early, it was at 10:30 Eastern and not midnight.

Some other reports I saw indicated that TikTok wanted Biden to give more clarification on him supposedly saying it wouldn't be enforced so they could maybe avoid the step, but he didn't do it.

This benefits TikTok because, real or not, they pledged loyalty to the criminal in chief. That's all it takes. Even if there's no sale, thus breaking the law, nothing will happen.

The national security threat the trumplicans claimed? Even if it is a threat, those rock-ribbed sooper dooper pro-American republicans won't do anything. They won't dare cross the criminal in chief.

And by a margin of less than 2%, voters said loud and clear in they don't give a shit about national security. Because the biggest national security threat to this country has ever faced returns to power tomorrow.

My apologies this isn't on the politics the thread and I'll stop now. This is just purely political story.

It absolutely a political story and we've had posts on the politics page, the Supreme Court thread, and how this revived.

I actually think we're on the same page. TikTok's hands aren't clean on this and I have wanted to say on several social media posts that scream national security that the biggest national security threat is about to take office.
