Volleying U.S. Open (Tennis!) Thread...

tie-breaks in first and third sets .. long points .. great match... outstanding performance by Ferrer, incredible display of guts by Nadal.

Just seems when I think of matches that went that long, they were five-set marathons, ala Jimmy Conners 15 years ago, etc.

He's done, but he's gonna play out this point. Justine Henin, he's not.

With all due respect, please google the Henin-Capriati semifinal from 3 or 4 years ago.

Two points from defeat several times, cramping, had to be helped off the court after somehow hanging in there (and winning), spent the next day on IV fluids so she could play the final that night against Clijsters (which she won).

One "no mas" moment shouldn't stain an entire career. Especially when her opponent tonight has pulled the "I'm losing, er, hurting" schtick many times.

Come on! What's being a fangirl without irrationally hating somebody? Tennis needs a villian, dammit!
