Super Bowl 50

Someone had the idea to place a sign prominently at ground level with detachable "SUPER BOWL 50" letters. S.F. residents took it from there.

Why fans don't just show up when owners appear in public and lynch them is beyond me. No jury I'm on would convict them, and I bet I'm not alone.

Tweet from Jed York yesterday, the same day the 49ers booted the Girl Scouts:

He is the living example of a person who should be called "kid" for his entire life.

Good read here. An oral history on the final drive of Super Bowl XLIX. I'd forgotten that the Seahawks essentially wasted two timeouts that would have come in handy before that last play. Also interesting, as always, to hear professional football players break down what actually happens on a given play, and how one step, a few inches, or one guy doing or not doing his job makes or breaks the whole thing.

I've mentioned it on here before, but the Super Bowl XVI highlight film is absolutely awesome just for the segment on the 49ers' goal line stand against the Bengals. On each of the four plays Cincinnati failed to score, the narrator and clips focus on a seemingly small but ultimately costly mistake by someone that caused the play to fail. Great, great work by NFL Films on that.

Snake was one of my all-time favorite players. I am sure football contributed to his health problems in a big way. But so did the entire rest of his life.
