2024-25 College Basketball Thread

They forking pulled it off after I clicked.

Pitino vs. Calipari in the second round. To my knowledge, the Hogs and Johnnies have never met, even in their tournament heydays which largely coincided.

ADD: I found it. The two teams split in NCAA play. St. John's won 68-65 in the second round in 1985 (in Eddie Sutton's final game before he commenced crawling); and Arkansas won 80-74 in the second round in 1993, the year before they won the natty.

Realized it was a year ago tonight I watched McCollum and his Northwest Missouri State team lose to Minnesota State at the buzzer in one of the most thrilling endings I've ever seen in-person. Now he's taken a bunch of those D2 guys and is on the verge of a round one victory.

Being on this board certainly helped me take Drake.

Arkansas wins, setting up a potential Cal-Pitino Round of 32 game on Saturday. Going to guess that will be in the first or second slot on Saturday.

One of the prime time games on CBS, the way they genuflect before coaches.

It's nice to see St. John's relevant. Not a Pitino enthusiast by any means, but it's undeniable how good he still is. And adaptable.

If years past is an indication, CBS has national coverage/no competition of the first two windows on Saturday, so I'm guessing the first game there. Or at Rupp. Denver likely will go late, where I might go looking for tickets.

I think I mentioned McNeese earlier in the year as a team to watch. Couple that with the fact that the Fighting Dabos have little to no history of success in hoops, and the smart bettor is a richer bettor today.
Clemson's 18-2 record in ACC play was an indicator that the league sucked. If Clemson goes 18-2 in your conference, then your conference sucks.
