2021-22 College Basketball Thread

I've loved Duke for more than 30 years. It's not popular, and I don't care. And if you really love college hoops, Coach k has earned whatever goodbyes and love songs and accolades that people want to throw his way this year. Don't come at me, cuz I will f****** fight you.

Navy easily scrubs the decks with Virginia, which manages one field goal in the final nine minutes.
Midshipmen played and won easily without two starters.
Could be Duke and Carolina and nobody else again. It was kind of enjoyable to see a third wheel that actually became the first wheel if measured over the entirety of the eight-year span from 2013-14 through 2020-21. Nobody other than Duke or UNC has ever been as successful over an eight-year time frame as Virginia was in league play. (Caveat is that we're talking about spans of exactly eight years. When you open it up to 10-year runs, you get NC State's two titles in 1974 and 1983,)
That chapter can be closed.
Virginia Tech will win the ACC regular season. Your assessment is wrong. I know you hate the Hokies, but embrace that hate and welcome the truth.

Watched Duke handle Kentucky. It's just about over. Duke has a chance this season with Keels and Banchero, both freshmen.

Watching that, I saw the best team in the country, and it's not even close. If it has good health, Duke could threaten to go undefeated.

I'm in the Duke sucks crowd, but that team is crazy good.

People are trash.

Comments by Oklahoma State personnel regarding its infractions case resulted in NCAA volunteer committee members and staff receiving threatening and offensive messages after being identified by name. This is unacceptable.

Oklahoma State personnel encouraged individuals to circumvent the NCAA member-created process that every school agrees to participate in as part of their responsibility to each other. Further, there is a troubling trend of misstating facts about the infractions process by schools that disagree with the infractions outcomes. Each member has the ability to seek change to the Division I infractions process, and there is a review group underway looking at how to improve the process.

This is also a clear example of the work that needs to be done to address issues and behaviors like this moving forward with the new NCAA Constitution and Division I Transformation process. We know that an adverse decision can be emotional, but personal attacks against individuals simply carrying out their responsibilities are inappropriate, unethical and potentially dangerous.

May have an interesting frame of reference pretty quick. Hokies play at Navy on Friday. Couple of well coached teams.

Looking forward to that one tonight. I thought Mike put together a really good non-conference schedule. Every P5 is going to have some tomato cans on the schedule, but going on the road and playing someone like Navy will be very beneficial down the road. Memphis in the Preseason NIT and either Xavier or Iowa State after. Maryland away in the ACC-B1G Challenge. Dayton away and St. Bonaventure on a neutral floor. That's a schedule for a team that believes it will be in the NCAA Tournament and is sick of getting slotted in the 8-9-10 seed range. Perform well against that schedule and show out in the ACC, and you're looking at a 4 or 5.
