The regular season starts tonight. Well, in North America since there already were two games in Czechia.

Who you got? Can Florida repeat? Does Edmonton break through? The Maple Leafs? Who is surprisingly good and who surprisingly sucks?

Without much research, I'll go with an Edmonton-Toronto final and an Oilers Cup.

A bit of news from LA, Kings announcer Nick Nickson announces he will retire after the season, his 44th with the club.

Not sure why the NHL scheduled a 1:30 p.m. local time start for the Kraken on a Tuesday.

Not sure why the Capitals don't play a game until Saturday when the season (in the U.S. at least) started on Tuesday.

Ducks don't open until Saturday, too, at San Jose, more than a week after their last preseason game. And they have another game on Sunday at Vegas.
The Kings, meanwhile, open with a 7-game trip -- five in the East, then Anaheim and Vegas -- before their home opener on Oct. 24.

I believe the Kings home opener is so late because of renovations being done at their arena. They also played their last couple preseason games in Quebec.

According to this story the Kraken agreed to it to get a season opener at home on national TV:

That picture of Jessica Campbell issuing late-game instructions to a group of NHL players should be one of the iconic photos of the season.

Only saw the final period of that game, and that was such a cool and striking image.

Have the Sabres been eliminated from playoff contention yet?

No, but
They've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
They've walked and they've crawled on six crooked highways
They've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests
They've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans
They've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard
