Jordan worship makes that impossible. People act like you are stealing their childhood if you question whether someone could be better than Jordan.

I get it if you were nine to 14 in 1990 or from Chicago. I illogically think every baseball player from 1994 was incredible.

But there are dudes who scream about it, you think about it and realize they were 40 years old at the time. From the west coast.

Is it the shoes? Did the shoes make every person think they have stakes in Jordan's legacy?

I don't care either way. It just mystifies me how you'd tie up your identity in Michael Jordan, the world's least cuddly celebrity.

I'm the same age as LeBron. I grew up in the same state. I covered him as a high schooler. I rooted for the Cavs. I have no identity tied to LeBron being considered the best basketball player.

There is a guy on TikTok who opens old packs of baseball cards, usually like 86-90ish, which is prime time for my childhood. He puts certain players from the pack on display as he goes through it to show how good the pack is. I can't tell you how many times I go, why wasn't that guy singled out? It is pretty much because all these players are great and he seems to be a little more levelheaded with his praise.
