2025 NFL offseason thread

Steelers have to get rid of Harris.

Harris is a free agent, though he would have been relatively cheap at under $7 million if they had used his fifth-year option. Now they have to spend resources on a running back, either in the draft or free agency, and they have no 2nd-round pick.

The priority is a quarterback. At least the Metcalf deal should make them more attractive to whatever free agent they are pursuing. There are reports that they are now serious contenders for Darnold.

Makes me wonder if they will be able to afford TJ.

Perhaps not, but given the injury history, they may not want to break the bank to extend Watt. It's not as if he is suddenly going to get more durable in his 30s, and ashorted injuries left him a shell of his usual self during that losing streak at the end of the season.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them go that route. Metcalf and Pickens are both excellent on jump balls, which is a big part of Wilson's game.
Metcalf is not great on jump balls. He's also not great on contested throws. He has average hands but is a specimen and creates space for himself. Deep balls and slants for him.

Love the player but I would never pay him that amount. Good on him.

If you are right about Metcalf's strengths, that makes him a better fit with Pickens than I realized. The key is if the Steelers are going to adjust their offense to play to those strengths.
