2025 NFL offseason thread

darn. That sucks. He has been a broadcaster and analyst for the team for a long time, but Wolfley was one of the starting linemen when I entered my football junkie phase in the mid-80s.

My first thought was that someone needs to check on Pete Rostosky. He is the only starting offensive lineman left from the 1984 team that made the AFC Championship game. Mike Webster, Tunch Ilkin, Terry Long, and now Wolfley are gone.

As an aside, Tunch Ilkin is one of the all-time great football names.

By all accounts I've heard, a great guy, too. He was at Indiana State the same time as Larry Bird. In fact, he married one of the cheerleaders who was on the cover of SI with Bird. Was a solid offensive tackle for a long time before becoming a local analyst. He and Wolfley worked together in one capacity or another for a long time. He died of complications from ALS in 2021. Webster was only 50 when he died. He was patient zero for CTE. Long also suffered from brain damage suffered during his career and committed suicide on 2005.

Was the hold up on the Darnold signing the need to move Metcalf so 14 would be freed up?

Fields to the Jets for two years, $40 million.

Oops. I see that was already posted. I wonder if that was the Steelers refusing to commit to him as their starter or he just wanted out of Pittsburgh.

If the Steelers end up with Rodgers, they got the worse end of that switch. I don't care what numbers he put up in garbage time this past season, he's done.
