BCS leagues expanding - yeah?

Assuming the Big Ten stops with Nebraska, here is how it should look for football:

Big Ten Hayes Division
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue

Big Ten Schembechler Division
Illinois
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Nebraska
Wisconsin

Last game of regular season:
Ohio State v. Michigan
Penn State v. Michigan State
Wisconsin v. Minnesota
Nebraska v. Iowa
Illinois v. Northwestern
Indiana v. Purdue

If the Aggies bolt to the SEC, who else does the SEC grab? Clemson? I think some teams (such as Florida State) would be blocked by SEC East teams -- not sure but I thought a post here suggested that.

Who knows but like other posters here, it is June 11th and college football dominates the talk. That is never a bad thing.

The whole thing is nuts.

I think the MWC added Boise State knowing full well it could eventually lose Utah, BYU, Colorado State or UNLV.

Is there anything that prevents Boise from joining the reconstituted Big 12?

I don't think the Big 12 will be around. I think the vacuum is started and Kansas is going to be left to clean out the lockers.

I also think that is true. If A&M doesn't go to the Pac 16, Utah would probably be the next choice, which had been rumored all along. But I think the move, which was going to happen anyway before this mess exploded late last week, could also be a quick one to make the conference at least a little more appealing to the Big 12 leftovers.

Well, would they go back on their word today to the MWC? (Unless the whole league disbands).

Boise is not a big-time player in college sports. Other than football, they're very mediocre and the Boise market is not all that large. Their football record is grossly inflated because of the schedule they play. I really hoped that they would be matched against Florida or Iowa or Georgia Tech in a bowl game last year and be exposed. They're a fine mid-major program, but they'd be sub-.500 in the Pac-10, Big 10 or Big 12.

I'm thinking of a Big 12 10 that looks like this:
Air Force
Baylor
Boise State
Brigham Young
Colorado State
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Utah

Mark, that's just a guess. The record shows that when matched against the so-called big schools in football Boise more than holds its own. As for their other sports, your point is well taken.

Pope,

Does that league get a BCS bid? I like the scenario but I am not sure the heavyweights see it as a big boy conference.
And the Chicago Tribune's Greenstein had today that the Pac-10 wants to have 2 automatic berths into BCS games if it gets 16 teams, the Mountain West looks better to me.

I think they would have to merge the entire Mountain West and rump of what's left of the Big 12 to make it work. It would be in their interests anyway to have TCU, UNLV and San Diego State for the markets and for recruiting.

The Mountain West Plus, or whatever it would be called, would have 14 (New Mexico too) and a really good case to get a BCS bid.

But as everyone knows, the real bonus would be the Kansas-Indiana State Mountain West-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge tilt at Hulman Center.

Edit: Crap! I left out Wyoming. Oh well ... sorry Iowa State. Enjoy your reunion with Missouri in the aforementioned MWC-MVC Challenge. :D

I predict the BCS will be history within 5 years. All these changes just excellerate that.

As for Boise State, 10 years ago no one had heard of them. Flash in the pan. TCU would be a better fit for a remodeled Big 12.
