The parade was 14 hours ago????? :)
You aren't exaggerating as much as you think. My friend the band director was on a bus at 2 am Eastern for 3:30 lineup.

We did get it on tape delay in the Central zone.

I will be watching a dog I co-own compete in the Herding Group at the National Dog Show. The show was last Saturday and I know he did well so no show nervousness, just fun seeing him on TV.
That's so neat

Thanksgiving with my little imperfect family this year: my live-in boyfriend (mom's finally gotten over the "living with sin" nonsense and seems to be happy that I won't die alone), his teenage twin children, his half-brother, half-brother's girlfriend and my parents. So far I had to introduce the boyfriend to the WKRP Turkey Drop episode. (He laughed during Les Nessman's broadcast so I am going to keep him around.)

And my parents are staying at a hotel, which is the perfect spot. I also have one bottle of wine for every day they are going to be here.

That's one per person per day, right?

Our Thanksgiving is Saturday at my sister's house, so today will be Jimmy John's and not enough beer to last the day.

The Macallan 18, Aberlour 18 and Oban 16 are reserved for when my divorce is finally final. You're all invited for a sip when that happens.

I've enjoyed living vicariously through a friend's feed this week as she explores New York as part of something called The Band Directors' Marching Band, an ad hoc unit that will be in the Macy's parade. Pretty neat recognition after a quarter-century of working as a middle school band director.

I saw them on TV in the parade today. They put on a nice show.

If you really pay attention, NBC's parade coverage combines the worst of what it does with the Olympics and Indy Car racing.

Always preferred CBS's coverage of the Macy's parade - and other parades - they actually showed the parade. NBC always seems to fill their broadcast with lipsynced productions and ends their coverage as soon as the parade gets to mid-town. Any balloon mishaps? Those are always my favorite part.

The balloons - not the mishaps. Also liked it better when the balloons went higher.

Partly sunny, 45-degree day in Microville. Mrs. Micro and I walked the dog this AM, texted with Micro Jr. back in Denver, Facetimed with Mrs. Micro's 95-year old dad, watched some football, strung Christmas lights on the pergola in back, cooking some spuds and getting ready to leave at about 2 p.m. for the annual TG celebration with two other families at some friend's house, where I'll knock back some whiskey/Cokes for the only time all year (unless we go back out there for Christmas, which often happens).

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I worked the first part of the day. Much of that time was devoted to a 69-year-old woman who was angry because she doesn't have a boyfriend. I used to think erotomania was funny.

Same here ... and it's probably not even what the Pilgrims ate! [/crossthread]

Ron Howard or Morgan Freeman or Tom Hanks VO: It wasn't. Have some popped grains or grash, oysters, and whatever game wasn't too wormy to eat.

I will be a good sport and eat some turkey and cranberries, the two somewhat edible items on the menu for me. Maybe with a roll. A hard pash on the rest of the usual Thanksgiving menu suspects.

Good on ya! Talking my nephew down from making a casherole was my good deed for the day.

I'm down to pay gas money for @OscarMadison to drive to Arkansas and open up on this sperm donor with both barrels.

I'll chip in for the bail money.

I am touched. And flattered. A holiday when I don't think I'll need to post bail is a thing of beauty. The only vegan at the table was me, so there were no thoughts of forcing a raw yam up anyone's nose. Happy Thanksgiving!
