My birthday was Tuesday, so we continued the celebration with a day trip to Dallas that ended with dinner at Campisi's.

Today has been low-key, but two spatchcock chickens are on the smoker, fresh rolls are out of the oven and triple corn bake is cooking. It's just me, Mrs. Flip and two teenage Flips and a girlfriend at dinner tonight. It's a good day.

Our Thanksgiving is Saturday at my sister's house, so today will be Jimmy John's and not enough beer to last the day.

The Macallan 18, Aberlour 18 and Oban 16 are reserved for when my divorce is finally final. You're all invited for a sip when that happens.

Good tidings and karma to you, swingline, and hopefully the stamp arrives soon for the final document.

My brother just ended his 8-years with a psychotic, narcissistic lying adulterous slug who had an affair, broke up two marriages with four kids, has shown no remorse or apologized, and her lover moved in with her before the divorce was final. She's an unfit mother. I hope her giblets get crossed so much she walks in front of a speeding car.

I gave my brother a bottle of Jefferson's bourbon to celebrate.

My soon to be ex was none of that, and she's a pretty good mom to our kids. I'm just ready for it to be official. My $700 worth of scotch will be shared with my brother in law and my sister. I'll be spending the night with them, hoping I don't puke in the guest room.

Thanksgiving ended with a rather unpleasant surprise. Dinner was great, particularly the brisket. Came home to find the only elevator in the building was out (again), so I had the opportunity to burn off some of those Thanksgiving calories by walking up 24 flights of stairs. Good practice for September, when building management says they're going to replace said elevator.

I just got back from the family gathering. Same partner who foisted a couple of rubber bands in my hand growling at me to put my hair up has now spread his pashive-aggressive behavior to the point of breaking up the family. As in not gathering for Christmas in any way, shape or form ... despite all of us living in the same neighborhood save for one uncle.

All because I wouldn't put my hair up. And he has not said one word to me since that incident before Christmas last year. Pro tip: If you're going to start a fire, at least have enough sense to carry your own fire extinguisher. And clean up your own messes ... i.e., since you were so willing to address me before, kindly do so again instead of dragging other family members into this crap, then breaking it up. Don't make your problem mine, then the entire family's because he didn't get his way.

I swear I couldn't write fiction this utterly stupid.

WKRP and more recently Friends and HIMYM's "Slapsgiving" get a lot of attention - but this one is worth a viewing.

Currently watching Gilmore Girls' Thanksgiving episode. It's an all-timer.

One show that had great Tgiving eps that is overlooked is Will & Grace. The ep where Jack comes out to his mother, where we see Will & Grace in college, where they go to four different Thanksgiving dinners... so great.

Had a good one with the family - Only brought beer for myself, didn't have to cook or help with dinner at all, didn't even have to clean up at all. Dad started tearing up (its his and my mom's 62 anniversary today) and my niece seemed to be having an intervention/breakdown - so I went for a walk. :p
