I'm from there. Been to both in Evanston. :)

However, I lived in Lake View and Portage Park, so thanks for the South Side suggestions.
 
I think what Theaster Gates has done in his neighborhood is remarkable. Worth the visit.

And I believe the default order at Lem's is rib tips.
 
Voted for Giordano's, because my wife and kids enjoyed eating there the last time we were in Chicago.

But I've never liked deep dish -- back when I could eat pizza, was always a thin crust guy myself. Home Run Inn and (western 'burbs) Papa Passero's were my go-tos in Chicagoland.
