Meanwhile on the International front....

Sometimes I have to remind myself how cheek by jowl the belligerents are when violence breaks out in that part of the world.

Surely he didn't mean to say, essentially, "I trust the people who see the world the way I see it." If he did mean to say that, surely he doesn't think that's somehow an admirable habit.

I think he means to say he trusts the judgment of writers and reporters and activists on both sides of the wall - and the argument - to describe pretty honestly the state of things.

It's become harder and harder not to use that word.

For what it's worth, Jeff's a very good writer and reporter himself.
