NFL conference championship Sunday

And I don't even like the Eagles. Worst helmets and kits in football.

But screw the 49ers. And good luck scoring Sunday. Hugs.

I mean, I'm under no illusions that the Niners have much of a chance to win this game. Only hope I have is Hurts' shoulder is still not right but the Giants weren't able to exploit it (not holding my breath there).

But damn, you want to show me on this doll where Montana's four rings hurt you?

I dunno, Spartan. I still make the 49ers as slight favorites. Nothing's happened since last Sunday to change my mind.

I'm coming from it this way: both have great defenses. Both have playmakers. Both can run the ball effectively. Both limit mistakes. The Eagles have Hurts who is a legit MVP. Hurts is very mobile and can disrupt defenses better than anyone not named Mahomes. Niners have a tough time against mobile, smart QBs. And that is going to be the difference and why I think the Niners may lose this weekend. You saw it on a Dallas fourth in the second quarter. Dak had nowhere to throw the ball, had a giant hole open up and he took off for nearly 10 yards.

The end of the season when the Eagles came back down to earth was because Minshew was QB and not Hurts.

Can the Niners win? For sure. Grind out the game by running the ball (all depends if CMC's calf isn't barking come Sunday) and limit the Eagles' big plays. Easier said than done. We'll see.

The 49ers are a better team than the Eagles and if they'd been able to stick with just one quarterback, they'd be hosting this game.

San Francisco over Philly. Sharpie.

Nah, wasn't the QB injuries. They haven't lost since losing Jimmy (who had won four in a row before getting hurt against Miami). It was gakking one away to the Bears opening weekend with a healthy Trey Lance. Or heck, if they score 13 not 10 against the Broncos. Or Jimmy doesn't run out of the end zone. Either one of those games and this one is in Santa Clara.

Is that what the LA Rams are calling their one Super Bowl ring? Or is it the one they brought over from St. Louis they won after leaving LA?

Kind of crazy to me that the Niners lost four games and three of them were to non-playoff teams -- Bears, Broncos and Falcons. I know that the fluky weather was the deciding factor in that Bears game and the Falcons game came on their second week on the East Coast after beating Carolina the week before, so it was a bit of a schedule loss.

The last Brock -- Dieter -- to start at QB in a title game didn't score a point.

This Brock has revenge on his mind. I hope Purdy has the game of his life.

Showing how important hitting early on a QB in the draft is to a championship window:

Bengals -- Burrow still has two years left on rookie contract assuming 5th-year option, projected extension is around 5-year, $260M
Eagles -- Hurts still has one year left on rookie contract, no 5th-year option available. projected extension is around 5-year, $225M
49ers -- Wide assortment of cheap QB options. Lance and Purdy has three years left, obviously Purdy is super cheap as a 7th-round pick.

Chiefs are the only team paying max salary for the position right now, but they have the guy that, talent wise, is good enough to win even with the Chiefs having deficiencies in some areas. We can assume Burrow is on a similar track and I think Hurts has some serious upside too.

But getting to the championship window before investing $40-50M into the quarterback position is key

I mean, nobody in America has pushed harder for Roger Craig to be in the Hall of Fame; the NFL Hall of Fame is an abomination without Roger Craig; moron voters; I won't beat my wife like Jonah Keri.

Craig was definitely a prototype for the modern-day running back. He could run, very underrated as a running back -- he carried that 1988 SB team IMO, he could obviously catch. He is horribly underappreciated for his toughness as a blocker and pass protector. I thnk he'll eventually get in as a senior HoF candidate, which is righting some wrongs this year with Joe Klecko and Ken Riley expected to get in.
