Whether it is an underpeforming NFL top draft choice, a college president or whatever - whenever I hear the powers that be claim they did their "due dilligence" on a search or draft prep I always laugh because clearly they don't. They'd be better off hiring a couple recently "retired" journos to dig around, they'd probably save a zero or two on whatever they pay their executive search firms and/or scouting departments.

And looking at schedules, I think 9 wins gets you a wild card in the NFC, maybe even 8 wins will do it for the 7th spot.
The AFC is up for grabs - with so many teams still in the hunt playing each other - sometimes twice - over the next six or seven games, it's like the playoffs begin this week.
