NFL Week 4 -- Won't You Be My Nabers?

I know we haven't given it a lot of time to mature, but to me this kickoff rule looks like a mistake. Taking away the unexpected onside kick is terrible, and teams seem just as willing to kick it into the end zone for a touchback at the 30 as they were when it was the 25 and the 20.

How did Goff not have a perfect pasher rating for the game? NFLGSIS has him at 155.8.

11.1% of his pash attempts scored touchdowns (2 TDs/18 attempts).

That figure must be 11.875% or higher to get a perfect pasher rating (along with a 77.5% completion percentage, 12.5 yards per pash attempt and 0 interceptions, with a minimum of 10 pashes thrown).

So which teams are going to be fighting for the top 3-4 QBs in the 2025 draft? (Updated Week 4)

100% no doubt
Tennessee
Carolina

Strategically could wait until 2026
N.Y. Giants
Miami

Might be tough (through financial commitments), but necessary
Cleveland

Four weeks in, it's looking that way
Las Vegas

Circle back after the season, we might have our guy
Pittsburgh

Retirement could force their hand
Los Angeles Rams
N.Y. Jets

I think this sample size of Arch Manning starts is really going to make things interesting for teams like the Giants and Miami. Both teams can easily commit to their current QB situations for another year and use their expected high picks in other areas. Obviously the Mannings aren't just going to let Arch play for any team, so being bad isn't necessarily going to get you in there.I actually think Miami might have the edge here if they were to let this Tua thing play out for an extra season. They have a QB friendly coach, system, playmakers. It really comes down to the teams that think Arch will be better than anything coming out in 2025 (Ewers, Sanders, Beck, etc.).

I'm still of the belief that there's a good chance Stafford will retire after this season. He is taking a horrible beating so far (on pace for 50 sacks).

Can't really put my finger on what Vegas is going to do. A team like that in a city like that really needs a face-of-the-franchise type QB, especially in a division with the Chiefs, but they feel like a 7-9 win team and it's hard to get the QB you want picking outside of the top 10.

Goff can look immortal one week and then the next week look like a dog rescued from the pound and tinkles on the rug every time someone sneezes.

But I'm rooting for him.

Thank you for the explanation, but it does reflect a flaw in the system.

Just eliminate the kickoff, have teams start at their own 25 and put in the 4th and whatever number from the kicking team's own 30 or 35 in place of an onsides kick.

They might not have him by the end of this season, much less if 2025 goes pear shaped.

I think McDaniel will be ok in Miami for a few years because he's done pretty well without much consistency at QB. The first year Tua was in and out of the lineup and he snuck them in the playoffs, almost winning with Skylar Thompson. And last year when he had Tua for most of the season, they won 11 games. And I don't get the impression Stephen Ross is keen on firing him any time soon. I ashume Tua will try to come back next season and get himself hurt again, which will definitely extend his rope through 2025.
