NFL Wild Card Weekend -- Nazareth, live from Philadelphia

Hated it when news siders wrote "talk to the tailgaters" or some such sidebars to the "big games." While more than competent in their own worlds of city councils, school boards, cops and such, invariably they screwed something up.

I still shake my head about this one news copy editor who, when we would send over a teaser such as "Florida St. Wins Big Game", inevitably would come over to us, complain there wasn't enough room for it all, and ask if it would be OK to take out "St."

Collinsworth talking about Dan Quinn: "He stays and plays cards AFTER the football work is done."

Felt like a shot at Jerod Mayo after the reports about him playing cards with players on the team flight home, rather than watching film with the other coaches.

Had a know-it-all news desker who would regularly ask us for photos and text for 1A skyboxes from Super Bowls, World Series and other big games, typically right at 4 or 5 p.m., before the games even started.

Monster hit on Daniels. Not sure I've ever seen a player sent flying higher and farther in a game.

I may have misheard him, but I thought he was talking about the team's camaraderie and how the guys play cards after hours.

Little did he know how prescient he was. With the typical 6 p.m. deadline, you now write the promo, "See coverage of Super Bowl LIX at podunkbugle com"
