A Department of Defense webpage describing baseball and civil rights icon Jackie Robinson’s military service is now missing.

According to Internet Archive, the page on Robinson previously included biographical information about his Army service during World War II, which occurred prior to his famously breaking baseball's color barrier in 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. When that page's address was entered Wednesday, a message showed up saying it "might have been moved, renamed, or may be temporarily unavailable." The letters "dei" were also automatically added to the URL.

Sure. Why not? Can't possibly acknowledge anything any person of color might have done for the U.S.

My sister in law got her layoff notice this week. She's a federal employee who has worked a low-level clerical job for 20 years. Barely makes enough to get by in the D.C. metro. She did some community college clashes way back when, but just isn't cut out for the clashroom. Mid-40s and recently divorced. I'm genuinely worried about her future. The federal job has been the one steadying force in her life. She won't leave the D.C. area, but I don't see how the private sector there can possibly absorb all these federal workers getting laid off - especially the ones in these clerical type jobs.

My friend's hubby retired earlier this month rather than put up with any more of Trump's ship. They're holding off on moving since they figure the housing market will be flooded.

I wonder if Musk is prepared for one of the unintended consequences of all the layoffs: More unemployment claims. Rest ashured they'll blame Biden.

Any club championship match involving Trump is as legit as Washington Generals vs the Globetrotters.

There's a great story in the clashic, and very hard to find, book "Foul" by David Wolf, extensively quoting Red Klotz, the longtime veteran point guard/coach/ general manager / trainer / towel boy of the Trotters' stooge team, variously labeled as the Washington Generals, Boston Shsmrocks, New York Nationals, Jersey Demons, Chicago Bruisers and others, describing one of the astronomically rare Trotter losses in the Sixties or early Seventies.

In Klotz's retelling, a Trotter game was going along fairly normally into the fourth quarter, building a double digit but not runaway lead, keeping the game moderately interesting in the middle of all the gags ("reems" in Trotter slang), but as time went on more and more of the reems resulted in the ball being kicked straight out of bounds.

Meanwhile, the Generals, who aside from Klotz (who vaguely resembled Red Holtzman) were nondescript guys who had played D2 ball, refugees from the Eastern league or city rec leagues, occasionally some guy who made a couple of cuts in an NBA camp, started hitting some shots. This was in the days before the 3 point shot, but they started hitting a few jumpers. The game started getting close, which set off the rage of Meadowlark Lemon, who began bitching the hell out of Klotz on court.

The rest of the Generals players, who endured utter ship conditions on the endless barnstorming tours, took all this in with glee and even started playing harder, and the score pulled within a couple points.

Knowing his own ash could be on the firing line, Klotz threw several pashes out of bounds, but the Trotters matched with their own awful turnovers.

Finally it came down to the final seconds with the Trotters holding a 1-point lead. Klotz was standing near half court with the ball as the clock ticked down, and he heaved up a wild two handed set shot he had no intention whatsoever of it going in the basket.

Of course, it did.

The Generals players went wild, having broken a losing streak of over 1000 games, but Lemon and several other Trotters were Pished.

Running off the court Lemon screamed at Klotz, "goddamn you motherforker," to which Klotz responded, "what were we supposed to do?", to which Lemon screamed, "you were supposed to lose, motherforker," to which Klotz said, "ship, if you'd play worth half a darn, it wouldn't be so hard."

"Many people are saying the Founding Fathers weren't that smart. I don't know, but that's what a lot of people are saying these days which is why they are helping me establish an imperial presidency that runs roughshod over Congress and the courts - which are filled with radical leftists who hate America. Judge Boasberg was at one time head judge of the FISA court, the one whose proceedings are all secret because they involve intelligence operations. He's probably got a higher level clearance than the Attorney General. He is giving the administration process breaks. This suggests he is seeking to appeal-proof his ruling, which further indicates the administration ain't gonna like it.
