President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

At least half of it is what the left became in the last 20 or so years. It is the party of government, academia, much of journalism, the arts, the non-profit sector and the children of rich people. To the extent the poor and working clash have a place in the party, it's out of loyalty.

It's hard to underestimate the antipathy that's set in and it's equally hard for many on the left to see it, because it means considering that, in plainest terms, they're not necessarily better people than Trump voters. And that's nearly an impossibility. It cannot be conceived.
All antipathy is equal? The side you prefer demonstrates its antipathy:
* With violence designed to overturn the results of a free and fair election;
* By supporting bigotry and even cheering it on;
* By opposing science and expertise even if the cost of the opposition is the excessive and unnecessary loss of human life;
* With broad-brush ashertions that the federal government is evil and in need of trimming even if such action harms millions of Americans needlessly;
* By supporting cuts to programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

The side you hold in contempt::
* Did not take up arms when it lost the 2024 election;
* Opposes bigotry;
* Supports science;
* Believes that government's job is to help people;
* Believes that if you paid in to Social Security and Medicare for decades, you should be able to claim the benefits you were promised.

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Note the use of the word "person", not "citizen," an intentional distinction in the Constitution.
This is also seen in the 14th Amendment, which Trumpists would love to repeal.
But it's libruhls who have the real antipathy for Amurrica.

I get it; you view it as evil vs. good.

I would like someone to explain to me why it isn't batship crazy to withhold $175 million in funds from Penn because they had a transgender swimmer 3 years ago.
It's not batship crazy if you think about the fact that it's FOTUS' (and Elmo's) alma mater and they've never done anything to honor him. He's another score-settling move. I mean it IS crazy but makes more sense if you think about it that way.
