So when Melanie Hutsell got a mention during Adam Sandler's song, I just assumed she died.

She is very much alive.

Just putting it out there in case you thought as I did.

Holy shirt, Dennis Miller is 71 now.
Bet he misses THAT Dennis Miller, too.

I stumbled across her on Instagram a while back, outside of a couple posts you'd hardly know she was on the show. Also only had around 2000 followers, which seemed crazy low for an SNL alum.

She posted a lot around SNL50 weekend, including pictures of her with Sandler, Victoria Jackson and Siobhan Fallon.

Finally watched the 50th anniversary special (we DVR'd it). Both Paul Simon and Paul McCartney's appearances were depressing, as they're too old to handle vocals from songs they wrote more than 60 years ago. Father Time remains undefeated.

On the other hand, Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy still have their comedy timing down pat. And the cameo by Meryl Streep was great.

I said it earlier: as awkward as Eddie's appearance at SNL40 was, it's been great to see him back at it between his hosting gig a few years ago and then SNL50.

It was in one of the books or in am interview, but castmates have said Miller always was a bit conservative. He wasn't a 9/11 conservative.

In 1995, Miller told USA Today: "I might be profane and opinionated, but underneath all that are some pretty conservative feelings. On most issues, between Clinton and Newt Gingrich, I'd choose Newt in a second, even though he is a bit too exclusionary." Miller also declared himself a "conservative libertarian" in a 1996 Playboy interview.
