I think if you're Biden, you start running against Trump now. Don't engage or antagonize Sanders much at all. Talk about bringing people together etc. Not just those who support you, but those who may have different ideas and constantly moving forward. He's probably better off the longer Sanders stays in.

That makes sense. I think that is the first priority for most Democrats and most independents who are likely to vote for a Democrat in November. They want President Trump gone. I think Biden has an advantage among such voters. The way to beat Sanders is to show people how he is going to beat Trump.

The subset of Sanders supporters who'd really rather have Trump if their guy can't get the nomination is as or more toxic than Trump's base. Many of the latter are blinded by prejudice or just dumb. The Sanders diehards really would rather burn it all down than not get their way. That's dangerous. It also should keep them very far from the levers of power for our own good. Note: This is a minority of Sanders' supporters, most of whom are just plain citizens who think the system needs a good shaking, not a teardown.

It's a delicate balance though. One thing I learned about politics is that the front runners became the front runners because they didn't run a campaign like they were the front runners. Obama in 2008 is a perfect case of that. He probably had Hillary to thank because she stayed competitive in the primaries, but his group never took their foot off the gas when it came to mobilizing and staying aggressive in pursuit of support and votes.

Biden can run against Trump, but he can't dismiss and ignore Bernie. That old bag has a pit bull mentality and he'll starting barking if he's being ignored. Actually I thought his responses to the negative ads Bernie's team ran were fine. Slap him on the wrist a little bit and keep Bernie on the defensive about his ego and his supporters penchant for being shitty bullies. Especially with another debate coming up...take some of the bite out of it.

I will vote for Biden in the general. I've said this. But I can still be concerned that Biden's mental lapses will be a major liability in the election. You seem to be in denial about that.

Maybe. But he's got several mitigating factors. One is that the impact of stuttering on his speech is a known fact. The second is that he's been doing the same mangled Stengelese for decades, so decline might not be the issue. The third is that he's running against Trump, who may or may not be in decline, but is moving quickly into barking mad.

I think Bernie people are hacked because they've donated money they probably couldn't afford and worked hard on a cause they believe in and found out Tuesday their ideas were rejected. And lets be clear - Biden really did nothing in this campaign to earn his lead. Disasters in Iowa, NH and Nevada then SC happened, largely due to his long relationships with leaders in the state - I'm not dismissing that. But for people who have worked hard over the last year - it has to be incredibly frustrating. Did anyone know a Biden supporter ahead of SC? I didn't. I knew an Inslee supporter, a Williamson supporter and Harris supporters.

I live in the Southeast, Biden supporters were easy to spot around here. But clearly you ignore the region much like Bernie people did
