The Soccer Thread (Version 14.5) -- We Don't Need Another Euro

I ashume the times listed are GMT. That means I'll have time after work to go for a sixer of Hefeweizen before the game starts.

I was in France in 2016 in the first stages of the Euros. Bordeaux, where my daughter lives, was one of the venues. It was a blast. The match we saw was Austria vs. Hungary for the Archduke Ferdinand Cup. Never sat with so many smokers in my life. The other thing I remember was Ireland had a game in Bordeaux and the day before it we were in Arcachon, which is Bordeaux's beach town about 45 minutes away. The Irish fans were there en mashe. It's a good thing they were getting hammered, as they had the most spectacular set of sunburns, so intense you winced in pain just looking at them.

I went to matches in Dallas in 1994. In July. With thousands of Swedes for a knockout match. They never stood a chance against that Texas sun.

I tipped the roving beer vendor to come around every lap and let us dunk towels and tee shirts and caps into his tray of ice water. We only drank two beers each the whole match, but that dude made a killing off us for doing that.

I mentioned on the main thread that I was at Euro 2004. Such a fun experience, even more so in some ways than the World Cup because it was less of a monied vibe. Helped that Portugal was an easy country to get around.

Met some Swedish fans at my first Watford match in 2019 when it was in the high 80s, and they were melting. Can't handle anything above 30 celsius, it seems.

My Scots in it until the anthem, at least. Flower of Scotland is always awesome at events like this.
