Your all-time favorite band

As a kid: The Dave Clark 5, the Hollies.

As a collegian: The Allman Brothers.

In my 20s: Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band/Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes.

Since my 30s-on: The Byrds/Flying Burrito Brothers.

Although what I listen to depends greatly on my mood (I'll go from thrash metal to 70s folk rock from one day to the next) but my all time band is Metallica.

I was relatively late to the game (they released Kill 'Em All before I was born) but Reload really hit me good especially as a teenager who was trying to figure things out. Then I discovered the Black Album and And Justice For All and really went hard.

I was never a huge fan of the Beatles - mostly because they were already deemed "GREAT" (and done for that matter) by the time I started appreciating music, but they had the perfect career for a band. Hit big early, grew and evolved as a band, and broke up before they started repeating themselves or just doing for the huge payday tours (Eagles anyone?). An incredible 10 year run. Not sure there has been another band with that kind of creative and commercial success - and legacy - jammed into such a short time-frame (where tragedy wasn't involved).

The Hollies were my favorite Brit invasion band. Great harmonies. interesting lead guitar by Tony Hicks. Bobby Elliott on drums was also fantastic.

I've tried giving myself time to decide on the thread I've started, but I'm still torn.

It's either Huey Lewis and the News or The Gaslight Anthem. (Just don't feel Bruce and E Street qualifies.)

I know, I'm weird.
