2024-25 College Basketball Thread

Today's fun in NET rankings:

No. 6 Alabama beats No. 2 Auburn and neither one moves.

And I'm sure this changes ashuming Michigan State beats Michigan today but Sparty got jumped by Maryland despite having a three game better conference record, a two-game better overall record and is 11-4 in Quad 1 games to the Terps 7-6 mark

The NET is somewhere just north of ESPN "analytics" as a useful metric, but the NCAA can't be bothered to use a blend of better ones (KenPom, Torvik, Evan Maya spring to mind). Still the committee doesn't go straight down the NET list to pick teams.

1 vs 6 is probably a fair ashessment of where Aubie and Bama sit right now. I could be talked into Duke as overall No. 1 if the Tigers face plant again in Nashville. And I truly believe Alabama is a little bit better than Tennessee, last weekend notwithstanding. Wins over Auburn and Houston away from home should count for a ton.

The PCC/Pac-8/Pac-10/Pac-12 won 514 NCAA championships in its history, probably in every single sport except men's and women's hockey. No other conference comes close. That's why it was known as the Conference of Champions.

I was about to try to 'gotcha!' with wrestling, but darn, Arizona State won the team title in 1988!

If Alabama can make shots, I don't see anything but a clear path to the Final Four.
An Alabama/Michigan State Elite 8 game could be fun. 40 minutes of who is going to outrun the other.
CBS will have a blast of Fears v Sears.

In East Lansing, they're staging a game Brian Ellerbe would be proud of.
:eek::eek:

Whereupon Sparty, which was headed for a 100+ point nuclear blowout at halftime, hit the skids in the second half and won't even make 80.
