Favorite band/musician you "might" worry others think is uncool

Late to this thread. Tom Cochrane has never been the epitome of cool, but back in the late 80s I wore out my cashette of the Victory Day album (impossible to find streaming -- though you can cobble together the tracks from YouTube):

A great Canuckistani artist. the missus and I are going to see him in October.

The Lunatic Fringe was a big song in the states from the Vision Quest soundtrack. But beyond that, he was completely unknown here until "Life Is A Highway." But the modern rock station we could pick up from Ann Arbor when I was in college was 89X in Windsor, and that album got a lot of play -- Canadian content regs and all that.

Oh man you blew my mind, no wait "You Dropped a Bomb on Me"!! Never thought I'd see a Gap Band reference here. l

If only I saw this "Early in the Morning"!!

You made my day.

Went up the hill
To have a little fun

Slade ... Now THERE was a band reaching for the brash ring in the MTV era long past their sell-by date. Electronic drums on Run Runaway? A nice twist.

Slade had 12 straight top-4 hits in the UK from 1971-74. They weren't true heavy metal as much as a form of glam rock. They remind me of The Sweet, another UK band from the same era that had more statewide success. This was Slade's first No. 1:

Here's another slinky top hit from the era:

Serious love for The Gap Band right now. Dancing with the headphones on outside in the RV park last night while Gwen was on a Zoom chat. Outstanding (and a dozen other knockout songs).

I, for one, would like to subscribe to your Tik Tok channel.
