And gutted NIH and CDC staffing and has a whackjob as his principal advisor on health policy.

Lord help us if bird flu crosses over to humans and blows up into a pandemic on the order of the 1918 flu. The measures needed to respond to that effectively would be sterner than Covid under Trump, and he'd halfass it at best even after the severity of it was known.

Not saying this to tout this, but today is my bday and it will be always be COVID day, which kind of blows. Alas, sipping on a pint at a pub along the river in Cambridge now so it can't be so bad. Related, at least three friends in our group tested positive after the Hold Steady weekend. I seem to be fine, knock on wood, but it's definitely still out there.
