Cops should be held to a higher standard of behavior and should always err on the side of de-escalation.
Had the officer been as polite as Mr. Rogers, how long before Tyreek Hill stops acting like Tyreek Hill? Two weeks from never?
You guys are exactly saying this, it's okay to get slammed to the ground because he didn't comply AND he's Tyreek Hill who MAY have been acting entitled.I don't think anybody is saying it was okay to violate Hill's civil rights. The police officer can be wrong and Hill can be wrong. Both things can be true. I think they are in this case.
Had they kept cooler heads, the police really could have forked with him by leisurely going about their business and taking what Hill stated was most important to him - his time.
I'm the expert here. I got picked up on Sunday doing 51 in a 35 and got a warning. I've been picked up by a cop 13 times and have only gotten a ticket once.
My five-year old, sitting bemused in the back seat after the cop walks away, said afterwards, "That's the first time I've been captured by the police."
You're absolutely right on that. Baller move, that would have been. Some stories are villains only.
Overreaction by the police, but expected (not deserved, but expected). Hill is an imbecile for forking around with people itching to get to the "find out" stage.
