Running 2023-24 Hot Stove Thread

Accidentally posted it on the Pol thread but what is wrong with the current stadium other than accessibility? I was there the year it opened ('91?). It's a ballpark. It doesn't need to be some magical wonderland.

I suppose we are just now in the era of having 35-year-old stadiums replaced, at taxpayer expense.

Thirty-five is forking ancient these days. Only six parks are older than new Comiskey (the iconic Fenway, Wrigley & Dodger, plus sorta nice but just sorta there Angel, it used to be cool SkyDome andof course Oakland Coliseum, currently housing rats big enough to eat you). forking Atlanta has had TWO PARKS built in the time the White Sox have played at new Comiskey.

Having to turn around a borrowed minivan with out of state plates after dead ending into Wentworth Gardens wasn't exactly the most pleasurable Sunday drive I've taken. I'd guess the Sox want to move uptown where the swells are.

Three for Atlanta including the Georgia Dome, the most senseless teardown of all.

Angels have been looking for a new yard too..

Don't forget Kauffman Stadium, which is also possibly going the way of the dinosaur. Have to imagine the Chiefs super bowl win will help the Royals move downtown, since part of the reasoning is giving Arrowhead more room for tailgating / development / $$$$$

Rogers Centre is undergoing another major offseason of renos. There were rumblings just before Covid that the Jays/Rogers/MLSE were looking at building a new stadium (MLSE was rumoured to be buying into the club) next door to the current one but land is so expensive in downtown Toronto there's no way the city and provincial governments were going to cough up money for that when they are probably still paying the bills for the construction of the current place. There's been no mention of it since.
