The Economy

The MAGAs that were already Big Mad at Target over woke swimsuits and leaving people the hell alone in bathrooms? That group, which holds grudges even after a business bends the knee?

To the point @sgreenwell made, the biggest thing Walmart does to set me on edge is its equivalent of a schlocky Top 40 + adult contemporary radio station blaring on the PA from mid-morning through close. I can hear myself think inside a Target.
I guess my point is 99% of the general public are more interested in saving money and getting their hands on the latest Joanna Gaines kitchen towel while sipping a SBUX and keeping their toddler in the buggy than they are protesting on behalf of Black gays or whatever they believe DEI is.

Yeah - This is kind of the point I was trying to make too. Target is "lightly political," I guess, but the overall vibe is just a "nice" place to shop at. They advertise sales, but they aren't interested in being seen as cheap. Maybe an extended boycott will effect their bottom line, but I suspect their biggest spenders are apolitical suburban moms that are middle or upper middle clash.

Im out of the loop, but what is a woke swimsuit and why is every body mad at Target?

The former: Target's 2023 Pride collection included swimsuits labeled as "tuck-friendly". The conservative outrage-industrial complex made up its mind they were designed for and marketed at children -- despite all evidence to the contrary -- and demanded a boycott to stop Target's promotion of sexual deviance and recruiting children into the "LGBT lifestyle".

Is Target Offering 'Tuck-Friendly' Bathing Suits for Kids?
On May 19, 2023, anti-LGBTQ groups and commentators promoted the claim that Target was selling "'tuck-friendly'" bathing suits for children."
Viral videos referenced two items with a tag highlighting the bathing suits' "tuck-friendly construction" and "extra crotch coverage features." Such clothing is aimed at transitioning or non-gender-conforming people. Several viral tweets alleged that these products were what "you will find in the kid's section" of Target.
Both of these products can be found on Target's website, and neither of them is designed for children. Claims that the products were for kids appear to come from an apparent disbelief in the notion that some adults are small, and the fact that some Pride collection displays were near a children's clothing section.

The latter: Target used DEI initiatives in years past and advertised itself as an inclusive place to work. This has made it the devil in the eyes of the aforementioned conservative outrage-industrial complex. Like many for-profit corporations, Target has rolled back those DEI initiatives this year and made it clear to the presidential administration that it was just funnin' when it suggested women and non-white people might be at least as good at leadership as straight, white men. This has made it the devil in the eyes of civil rights groups and left-leaning customers, who are also calling for a boycott. Essentially, Target as a corporation has tried to play both sides of the aisle when it comes to allyship and ended up satisfying no one.

Target was sued Thursday by Florida and America First Legal for allegedly concealing the financial risks of its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs and its 2023 Pride Month merchandise collection.
The lawsuit was brought by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, a Republican, and America First Legal, a group started by White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, on behalf of a Florida board overseeing state pensions and other state investments.
The lawsuit against Target is the latest conservative attack on companies' efforts to promote diversity in employee representation, customer marketing and other areas. The suit comes almost a month after Target scrapped some of its DEI policies following pressure on the right and President Donald Trump's attempts to use the power of the federal government to roll back DEI in the private sector.
But Target's retreat on DEI has provoked backlash and calls for boycott on the left, including from civil rights groups and the heirs to one of Target's founders. They want Target to stand up for diversity as a goal rooted in sound business practices, as the company had done for many years prior

The only time I enjoy going to Costco is when I need to get like 3 things, so it's in and out (and never on a Saturday).

Toilet paper, grapes and a case of beer? forking perfect.

If you truly get in and out of Costco with only the three things you went in for, you are as rare as an albino Sasquatch wearing a Target tuck-it swimsuit.
