I do kind of miss the drama of election night in Oregon - you get a dump within 30 minutes and it's pretty much decided - there isn't any guy at a board talking about various counties still being out or whatever.
Plus if you vote early, it's recorded by the county clerk's office as "received" and you stop getting annoying calls. Or if you do get one, just say, "I already voted," and hang up.

I don't disagree. I usually early vote in local elections but wait until election day for federal elections just because I like doing it then.
My comment was geared toward the thousands of ballots that were cast for people who were no longer running by the time those ballots were counted.

In Michigan they allowed you to come in, declare your previous ballot spoiled, and submit a new one. Everything went smoothly.

For all the talk about Sanders not expanding his base this primary season, it's clear that Biden will need to work to pull in more than just Democrats in order to beat Trump.

That may be true, but I'm guessing most of the vote for any Democrat will be votes against President Trump. One of the big differences from 2016 is people just don't seem to hate Biden the way they hated Clinton.

Really glad they are going forward with the debate on Sunday - Sanders supporters need to have that moment where their candidate is allowed to present his ideas side by side with Biden. Without it - if the debate was cancelled - it be seen as part of the "conspiracy." Also - Biden needs it to show the many issues and policies where he shares common ground with Sanders. Hell, Bernie pretty much gave him the take-home version of the test in his speech Wednesday expecting to hear about health care, immigrations, the environment, student debt and wealth inequality.
I was kind of surprised to learn about where Biden stands on some things. He's for public financing of campaigns, the Green New Deal, everyone having health care, drug price negotiation.

It's common sense at this point to want everyone in the country to have health insurance. But there are big differences in what Biden and Sanders are proposing. Sanders, of course, wants Medicare for All, which Biden staunchly opposes. Some on this board have even said that they'd prefer to keep their health insurance, which would still require $1,000 out-of-pocket for a COVID-19 test.

That's bullship. You shouldn't have to pay roughly 20 percent of your income for health insurance and still have such outrageous out-of-pocket expenses. It's another way in which the wealthy in this country benefit over the poor, even if the poor are paying their share for insurance. One aim of M4A is to eliminate that.

Co-pays. Prescription co-pays. Deductibles. Out of system charges. Finding out after your kid is in a car wreck that your insurance now only pays for two occupational therapy visits a year when his surgeon has ordered them three times a week for him. There isn't one in ten of us who goes to the hospital for something serious and knows what it will cost before the bills start coming. Then there's the whole fee for service system, which can be abused or manipulated and has all sorts of incentives to do procedures to get the money instead of because it was needed. (To be fair, there are many other not medically needed procedures which are done to cover the doc's ash, so they are documented in case of a later lawsuit.)

There's a lot of screwed up stuff that needs to be fixed. Doing it is will not be easy. Too many people have financial incentives to drag their feet on reform.

Just checked the Washington results - Biden is up two on Sanders now with 90 percent in - and Biden is winning King Co. where Seattle is.
