Tom vs. Patrick -- Super Bowl LV thread

I don't care what happens. If it's a 4-3 final or 72-68, I'll be looking for something else to do. Maybe I'll go to my clubhouse's golf simulator and play Pebble Beach.
Thanks for the update.

Maybe you'll finally get that hole in one you've been desperately seeking.

The Chefs came back from deficits of 10 points or more in every playoff game last season. They were down 20-10 midway through the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl and faced third-and-15 from their own 35.

Mahomes suggested they run "Wasp," then went out and made the play of the season, throwing that bomb to Hill as he was getting hit.

KC ended up winning by double digits.

Mahomes is the real thing.

But if the OL buckles just a bit and Mahomes gets clobbered just as he's releasing the ball, resulting in a wobbly duck that gets intercepted?

Remember, also, that it wasn't THAT great a pass (think back to the Justin Fields arguments :) ). Nobody was within 7 yards of Hill. He had to slow down, turn around and wait for the ball.

Mahomes is the real deal, but he's not exactly threading the needle on that play.

You're not really going to go there, are you?

Hill was wide open because of the combination of the scheme and his speed. That is, the scheme is designed to use the safety's respect for Hill's speed against him. It also takes advantage of the fact that defenses don't expect the quarterback to be able to make that throw (because very few can).

At about the 7:14 mark of this video they do a good job of explaining why that's such a difficult throw:

You can also check this one, at about 5:00:

Also, the line didn't hold up very well. Buckner was barely even slowed, much less blocked, though he was delayed slightly because he went outside on a stunt. One reason Mahomes was even able to get the ball away on a very slow-developing play is that he kept drifting back on an extra-deep drop to buy time (which also made the throw more difficult).

That was a fantastic play by Mahomes (and Hill, too).

Are Rodgers, Brees, Marino, and Manning the real thing? If not, then why is Brady the real thing? The answer rhymes with wren.

Hen.

Hen rhymes with wren. And — bonus! — they're both birds.
