2023 College Football Coaching Carousel thread

Chip Kelly may be a clown, but the problem at UCLA ain't Chip Kelly. Cade McNown ain't walking through that door.
I get what you're saying. But a promised future with Chip Kelly might be the biggest reason a Cade McNown ain't walking through that door.

They're getting no one of that caliber anyway once they start going 5-7 every year in the Big Ten.

Jimbo has a national title on his resume, one of seven coaches to win one since 2010, and 128-48 overall record.

He'll absolutely get another P4 coaching gig if he wants it.

The biggest downside to Jimbo is that he's Jimmy Sexton's perfect client. He'll go along with any rumor of him job hopping to squeeze his current employer for more money when the leverage in his favor. That tough for some athletic departments to stomach.

Brady Hoke "retiring" from SDSU at the end of the season.

Officially, the school says it's a retirement, but Kirk Kenney of the Union-Tribune reports he was essentially kicked out the door, as the Aztecs are 3-7 and will not be bowl eligible.

I greatly appreciate Hoke bringing the Aztecs' program out of a deep hole during his first stint as head coach (and for having Rocky Long on his original staff for a smooth transition when he left for Michigan), but the team desperately needs some new blood -- the offense is putrid and the defense can't really make up for it this year. It'll be interesting to see who they can get.

UCLA feels a lot like West Coast Pitt. Rented stadium miles from campus that's half empty most of the time unless its a big rival. Fans and alumni kinda' care but not really. Not as much financial commitment as their peers. And you're fighting with another nearby college that has considerably more cash on hand to do this. All that to say, who else you getting at UCLA?

I'm baffled as to why San Diego State isn't stronger. How do Fresno State and Boise State have better programs?
Beautiful location, beautiful coeds, they should be able to attract the best players who can't make a Pac-12 roster.
I've read that their new stadium has been a disaster (it was built on the former Jack Murphy/Qualcomm site) and that with a smaller venue they have priced out many fans and the bad, boring team has chased away the rest.

Not buying the stadium complaint. It's been half-full for football this year and the cheap seats are only $40.

The professional women's soccer team that uses the stadium draws bigger crowds.
